Dr. Kaye completed his residency and fellowship training at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. Dr. Mitchell Kaye is Board Certified by three surgical specialty boards related to Facial Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery, and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Originally from Long Island, New York, Dr. Kaye’s medical education began at Tufts Medical School in Boston with his MD degree. He then began his residency training at the Massachusetts General Hospital of Harvard University. He completed his Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital and then served as the Assistant Chief of Service during his fellowship year at Hopkins. Johns Hopkins has been recognized as the finest department of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery by US News and World report for over 10 consecutive years. He obtained his Board certification in Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery the year after finishing at Hopkins, having scored in the top 1% of that group of surgeons. He has performed many thousands of procedures of all types in this highly sensitive and complex part of the body since obtaining his board certification in Otolaryngology.
Dr. Kaye then underwent additional training and testing to obtain his second board certification in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. This is a natural extension of his skills as a surgeon performing cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the face, head, and neck. Dr. Kaye is also a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, as well as many national and local medical societies dedicated to fostering excellence in Surgery. He is a Clinical Instructor of Surgery at the University of Louisville.
When Dr. Kaye obtained his third certification, he achieved the distinction of the simultaneous highest score on the oral and written portion of that exam, one of only two individuals to have ever done so. Dr. Kaye teaches aspects of cosmetic surgery to his colleagues at various meetings and courses throughout the year and considers this an honor.
Dr. Kaye has practiced in Western Kentucky since 1987 and has been established in Hopkinsville since 1997. He and his staff moved into the practice’s current location in 2002. This facility was designed with the plastic surgery patients’ safety and comfort in mind and offers a fully equipped operating suite and with accreditation through The Institute for Medical Quality. A certified and highly experienced ancillary staff dedicated to the goal of providing excellence in cosmetic surgery completes the team at Advanced Cosmetic Surgery Center of Kentucky.
On a personal note, Dr. Kaye describes himself as a family man and has been blessed with a wonderful wife and three children. He enjoys the people and the physical beauty of this part of Kentucky. In Dr. Kaye’s free time, he enjoys flying and participates in the Experimental Aircraft Association’s Young Eagle Day, which gives children the opportunity to go for their first airplane ride. When flying solo, he is most likely to be practicing the highly demanding sport of aerobatic flying. Other interests include reading history and a number of athletic sports.
