A Quality Facelift Offers Quality Results

Youth is a wonderful time in our lives. The body is lithe and flexible, the face fresh and blemish free. But as the old adage goes, “Nothing lasts forever.”

The aging process results in age lines and facial furrows, sagging skin, and undesirable fat deposits. These issues are created by factors like sun overexposure, pollution-related damage, the constant pull of gravity, lack of exercise, unhealthy diet, stress, hormone imbalances, weight fluctuations, and genetic factors.

In older days, people had to make do with what they had. But today, with all the advances in the medical and cosmetic fields, there is an effective solution: the facelift. This procedure is a great way to recapture one’s youthful good looks.

The Facelift

The facelift, or rhytidectomy, is a surgical procedure used to address the signs of facial aging in the middle to lower portion of the face. This is generally done by giving the facial muscles a “lift” and removing the excess fat and skin.

A facelift is the perfect solution for the following issues:

• Skin that has lost its elasticity and sags down in the mid to lower face
• Deep creases and folds such as marionette lines and the nasolabial folds
• Uneven fat deposits
• Drooping fat, muscles, and skin that lead to sagging cheeks, jowls, and a turkey wattle

A facelift is a long-lasting solution. Depending upon the patient’s aesthetic goals, medical history, and facial structure, Dr. Kaye will decide the best technique for the procedure.

The Details of the Facelift Procedure

The steps of a facelift surgery are as follows:
Administering anesthesia – Based on the patient’s comfort level, general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation may be given for the surgery. This will ensure that the patient is comfortable and free of any pain for the entirety of the facelift procedure.

Making incisions – An incision is made from the temple area down along the front of the ear. It is then taken behind the earlobe and terminated in the hairline of the lower scalp. This incision takes an identical route on the other side of the face. The incision allows Dr. Kaye access to the underlying tissues.

Reshaping the structure – Depending upon the requirements, the tissues supporting the face and neck are lifted, repositioned, and tightened. The excess fat and skin tissues are trimmed away and the remaining skin is redraped.

Closing the incisions – The facelift incisions are closed using sutures, staples, and tissue glue after placing any drains, if required. A suitable dressing is also placed on the wound to promote healing.

For the best facelift results, the post-surgical care instructions given by Dr. Kaye should be followed closely. This also ensures the shortest possible recovery and the lowest chance of complications.

Once the patient has fully healed from their facelift procedure, they will be able to show off their newly youthful appearance.
