Contour Numerous Areas of the Body with Liposuction

Frustrated with endless exercise sessions and diets that fail to help achieve positive change? If you’ve tried everything under the sun and still can’t get the results you’ve been trying for, consider liposuction.

Liposuction is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures. It’s one of those few cosmetic surgeries that may be done on nearly any target site, be it the legs, abdomen, neck, buttocks, or arms. This cosmetic procedure is performed with the primary aim of reducing target areas of the body in volume.

An Overview of Liposuction

Liposuction is a fat-removal technique that is performed under anesthesia. During it, stubborn fat cells are removed from the target sites through extraction. They are extracted using a specialized cannula and an aspirator.

Tumescent liposuction is a specific type of liposuction that involves extracting large volumes of fat by injecting a specialized solution into the target site. “Tumescent” means to be swollen and firm. The solution makes fatty tissue firm in order to make removal easier.

Ideal Candidates for Liposuction

Liposuction should not be viewed as the shortcut to weight loss. It is a spot-reduction procedure, meaning it is used to remove fat from one or more specifics area of the body. Liposuction is recommended for those individuals who have reached their weight goals but still have some stubborn fat deposits left over.

Preparing For Liposuction

Preparation for liposuction begins with a consultation with Dr. Kaye. During this, he will assess whether the procedure of tumescent liposuction is ideal for you by examining the trouble areas. He will assess your skin’s elasticity, perform a physical examination, and discuss your medical history in order to rule out any serious conditions that could interfere with the procedure.

In the days leading up to the procedure, the patient is advised to stay away from blood thinners and herbal supplements. Other instructions include avoiding cigarette smoking and alcohol and not consuming anything after midnight on the day of the surgery.

The Tumescent-Liposuction Procedure

The procedure takes a couple of hours of complete. It involves filling the targeted region with a solution containing local anesthetic, epinephrine, and saline. This solution swells the tissues to make extraction easier. It also limits blood loss and numbs the region to discomfort.

Once this solution has taken effect, the underlying fat is extracted using suction-assisted aspiration through a cannula. The target areas are contoured and then the areas where the cannula was inserted are dressed appropriately to protect against infection.

Recovering from Liposuction

After the procedure, there may be a degree of mild pain; this is readily treatable with prescribed pain medication. People who undergo liposuction are advised to walk around immediately after the procedure to encourage healing. Physical activities such as exercising may be resumed within a week of the procedure, as long as you are cleared by Dr. Kaye beforehand.

There will be slight swelling and bruising in the treated areas; these issues will subside as the body recovers. The results of liposuction are visible immediately after the procedure, and the full outcome will become clear once the swelling goes down.
