Breast Cancer Awareness Month: What You Can Do

With October being awareness month for breast cancer, Advanced Cosmetic Surgery Center of Kentucky wants to remind you about some things you can do to protect yourself and your loved ones from this devastating illness. Let us be stronger and fight together against breast cancer.

Breast cancer has some very sobering statistics associated with it. Each year there are over 1,000,000 new cases of breast cancer, and nearly half a million die from the illness. Since we can’t outright cure cancer yet, detecting and treating it early is the best way to combat this terrible disease.

Every month, you should examine your breasts. Be sure to do it at the same time each month, as they have slight changes from month to month. Learn how they feel now so you can tell if an abnormality comes up. If you find one, don’t wait to call your doctor when you’re more certain. Call them immediately and schedule an examination. It’s much better to be safe than sorry.

In this fight against breast cancer, we are much stronger together. Take the time to call your friends and remind them to do a self-examination and visit the doctor. Remind your doctor to talk to other women about breast cancer. Post to social media. The more we do together, the easier this fight will be.

Dr. Mitchell Kaye and our Advanced Cosmetic Surgery Center of Kentucky team will be happy to answer any questions you may have about how you can help. Call our office in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, to talk with our team.
